So here's one of the only photos of the most recent Buffet contrabass prototype. This instrument is made of rosewood like their bassoons and the brass components from the photos above make up the neck and extension sections of the instrument. From what I understand the instrument has 3 independent manual register vents operated by the left thumb. Don't get your hopes up though because I've also heard that this prototype was finished years ago and it does not seem like Buffet will be producing a Bb contrabass anytime in the near future unfortunately.
