Sound control

My wife and I live in a small house. My music room is a converted bedroom. I removed the carpeting to expose the wood floor below. For the first time, my clarinet sounded incredible. No more deadening. OTOH, my wife can hear the clarinet across the house in her art studio. Is there a way to keep the sound from exiting the music room w/o deadening the sound quality I gained by exposing the wood floor?

If it is just the space you created at the base of the door, maybe a weather strip of some sort would bring you back to where you were before.

But true sound proofing can be expensive.

One other suggestion (and I've never tried this so it's just a shot in the dark) would be to hang a thick fabric curtain (more like stage blacks) floor to ceiling, wall to wall about a foot in front of the wall that has the door in it. This will act as a "low frequency baffle" and cut down on the vibrations from the more resonant notes.
