I used to order directly but the website doesn’t work anymore as you rightly say. It hasn’t been active for some years now. It’s a shame because you could customise the ligature via the site.

Thank you Peter! Now I have another more important question, as I saw the GF maxima silver and gold ligatures, they both have the same silver plate touching the reed, then what's the reason to get the gold GF maxima over the silver? (I don't see any reason to get the gold while It hasn't gold plate touching the reed..)
Do you know If there is a gold plate I can order separately to adjust on any GF maxima ligature?

You are correct in your assumption that the colors of the Maxima are purely aesthetic (I have both...... I use them mostly with the plate against the mouthpiece). Other ligatures can make some claim to tonal differences in that the entire structure will vibrate differently (such as the Woodstone line). The "plate" is rather small and represents more of a "point" than most plates that you find within ligatures. I don't think there would be much to the idea of changing the material (which I believe is brass).

So, you have both silver and gold.. Do you notice any change to the sound going from silver to gold?(assuming you're playing with the plate touching the reed..)

Two things:

1 )I got them after committing to Legere so the difference of sound with typical ligatures was already muted.

2) The area of contact is dramatically smaller than any "typical" plate, really just an elongated point.

The difference lies in using the pouch on the reed or the "plate." As one would expect, the plate is a little more defined; vibrant. The downside is that the reed will rotate almost no matter how firm you dial up the pressure because the plate swings rather freely around the center mooring bolt (you'd have to see it). On the upside, this ligature is the most defined sounding of any "leatherette" or leather pouch when used with the pouch holding the reed.

So basically you refuse to use with the plate touching the reed? because of slipping?
My point is because both silver and gold have same silver plate, I asked you to compare the sound when using the plate, so to say If It worths for someone getting the gold over the silver.. What do you think, It worths? Maybe when using the pouch on the reed, there is a bigger change in sound between the two??

I wouldn't get too hung up on the material. Someone’s own experience however meaningful wont be the same as ones own so in these situations, if you are able, is to try in a store that holds them.

I can only say that I didn’t care much for the Maxima when I tried it years ago. I still preferred the 08 GF system at the time as the reed was allowed to vibrate fully while producing a full rich sound. I don’t use the GF ligature now in performance but I keep it in the case on the spare mouthpiece just in case.

For me, the plate against the reed is impractical for plastic reeds.

There is more difference to find amongst ligatures when used with cane. I no longer have that frame of reference and want to be honest about that. I have ligature recommendations for Legere!!!!!

I bought the gold color Maxima because I have a pair of Yahama CSGs.

With Legere reeds (again, not a good reed to use to judge the differences of most ligatures) there is no difference between the gold and silver Maxima, virtually identical.

Yes, keep us informed.
I believe I have the silver one somewhere at home. Despite the interesting concept it has never impressed me.

Hello guys! I just yesterday got my GF maxima silver ligature and It's fantastic ligature(playing with plate touching the reed). The only thing It misses, I would like to screw on a 24k gold plate and take off the silver plate, that would make this ligature giving the perfect sound for me, but unfotunately there isn't such plate to replace, right?
