Hi,
Does anyone know if the W series Selmer 10 had wide bore similar to CT or was closer to Buffet R13`s bore?
Thanks

Series 10 clarinets do have a narrow bore with undercut toneholes. Much narrower than a CT and Series 9 and more like a Buffet polycylindrical bore.

One thing to watch out for on Series 10 clarinets is the very short middle tenon and that it's as good a fit as possible in the lower joint socket - as wobble-free as possible. If it has any wobble, then have that addressed and the tenon rings can be built up with superglue and wood dust, then machined to make them a perfect fit in the socket and the superglue once hardened will also safeguard the tenon binding unlike wood.

Another option should it arise is to have the tenon sleeved with plastic as that too won't bind or have a metal tenon cap fitted. In every case, the tenon should fit like a tuning slide on a bras instrument or the same degree of fit a flute headjoint has in its socket - the tenon cork is narrow, but that provides both the seal and the outward pressure within the socket to hold the joints together.

I had a nice Series 10 come in for a full overhaul and the tenons were as crisp and square edged on that as the day it left the factory. Only the owner had other plans as he 'cleaned' the tenons with coarse abrasive paper which rounded off the tenons, so the middle tenon especially was very wobbly and unstable. I was furious when it came back in for me to sort out as I spent hours rebuilding it to as high a standard as I could muster, only to have my work undone.

But well maintained by both the owner and by their designated repairer, any decent clarinet will last a lifetime's worth of playing.

Thanks Chris- some one else got that one before me.
Your info is still invaluable, at the least I know what to look for if i get one of those.
Although, I would expect some wobble on a 50 y. old clarinet. As long as it's not coming apart while being played 😁
