That's TV.
But I've often witnessed what I call "ink poisoning" in real life.
It happens when students see lots and lots of notes (therefore lots of ink) on a page.
They get anxious, their hands shake, their respiration increases, and they try to play the music fast as they can, no matter what the tempo marking.
Thankfully, ink poison isn't fatal, and usually subsides when I point out, for example, that the 16th note runs are played at 60 bpm.

That's a pretty old NCIS episode, no? I recall seeing it maybe a year ago. Somebody switches her reed to do her a favour or something like that, no?
