La Virgin de la Macarena on Clarinet
Author: seabreeze

This dramatic piece (associated with bull fighting) has often been played on the trumpet by, for instance, Raphael Mendez. Here Ivan Villar Sanz (a student of Corrado Guiffredi) offers a version on the clarinet.

Yes, wonderful playing! I went through the next two pieces in the YOUTUBE cue as well. Sanz is very musical.

Sanz's teacher, Corrado Guiffredi, has recently posted performances of 4 Cavallini Caprices. I hope he follows through with more.

Ok, so the Guiffredi club mixes reminds me of a story.

I was playing the Beethoven clarinet and bassoon duets with a colleague while another who happened to be a percussionist started to tag along while putting various instruments away. I was particularly annoyed while the extraneous sounds were going on but then found myself missing the addition when he stopped.

I wonder if Giuffredi intended this result or if some Italian engineer with too much corona virus time on his hands just decided to make this happen?

the Giuffredi club remixes were co-created by Corrado’s son, Federico, who’s a music producer. They’re in quarantine together. His other son is a saxophonist, it’s going to be a very noisy house :-)

Just fun! All of these recordings were a joy to hear, then the assortment stories added to this!
