Re: B&H 1010 full boehm with articulated G#???

Author: Reformed  Date:   2020-03-20 19:58 Not a bad price for the seller when the condition is quite unknown. I own the very last "pre-war" 1010, actually from 1942. This has the articulated c#/g# and the upper joint forked Bb. No low Bb/Eb. Nickel plated keywork (war time?). It was already pretty wrecked when I bought it about 1977. Somebody had roughly taken a file to many of the keys and badly scored the woodwork too. Is that what is known as a bastard file? There is also a prominently repaired crack in the upper joint. It did play beautifully though and I used it for over 10 years until I bought some Peter Eatons and then some Yamaha German Boehms. I also have another pre-war 1010 A clarinet that had been adapted with a articulated G# using the original key. I think Full Boehm was always an option that could be ordered but that auction is the only 1010 I have come across. My own teacher, Harry Morrison in Glasgow, had a fine pair of 926 full Boehms. Harry was not tall even by West of Scotland standards. He always played sitting down with the bell held between his knees, the Bb and A clarinets being the same length. A very fine player.
