I just found a site that had a very very extensive list of oboe players and their famous students <http://idrs.colorado.edu/Publications/DR/DR12.3/DR12.3.Prodan.Oboists.S.html> that's the link. I was wondering if there was such a list for clarinetist and if not how hard would it be for someone to thoroughly research and make a list that would be accessible on the sneezy? ( i tried to hyperlink the address i'm not sure if i did it right, oh well, we'll find out)

John Mack should have at least 5 times that number - and that's just about the only oboeist I've ever had the pleasure to meet. I think a list like this, if you want to do a "geneology", is way to broad in its current form. It would be more practical (and I think of more historical interest) to take a smaller segment and do more research. For instance, just do Leon Russianoff or Daniel Bonade to 3 generations. Right there, just with those two, you'd have hundreds if not thousands of entries.

I wish someone would do this. It would help me with a related research topic. I would love start with Russianoff....wow, where that could go.
