I have just been made aware that Glenn Kantor, our beloved co-moderator of the Clarinet BBoard passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25th due to an unexpected heart problem. It's a shock to me as I'm sure a shock to everyone here.
As I learn more I will update the BBoard.
Glenn will be sorely missed. Requiescat in pace.

My condolences. Life is indeed fragile and none of us can be sure when our own share in that precious gift will come to an end. Thanks to him for helping to keep this forum going.

I'm very sorry to hear this. Of course, I only came to know Glenn via the bboard, but he was always very knowledgeable and kind. I'll miss him and his posts.

I'm very shocked and saddened to read of this great loss. Glenn and I never met but I thought of him as a friend with a shared interest in big band music; we traded quite a few emails over the years and he shared recordings of his performance with me.
He will be very deeply missed.

That's very sad news. He had just emailed me on the 20th about something, and I had replied mentioning that I missed our mutual teacher (who passed away nearly 10 years ago). I had wondered why I'd never heard back but assumed he was busy.
A true Gentleman who will be missed.

I am shocked by this news. Glenn (aka GBK) and I have long had a back channel email relationship about a lot of things particularly those that involved public school teaching. He and I both made our way through life on parallel paths in so many ways (big band work, Army musicians, teaching young instrumentalist, both playing Borbeck #16 MPs, swapping/trading equipment, problems of doubling, etc,).
While we never met in person, I got to know a lot about his and Jan's rather cool existence out in the Hamptons. He was always a stabilizing force in the BB and a kind and thoughtful poster.
I feel a great loss with GBK's passing. RIP Glenn.

PS It was always a treat to have Glenn tell me about "the cat climbing the tree" successfully once again with each annual production of Peter and the Wolf.

Very sorry to hear this.
Several years ago I was in the car, and WNYC broadcast a Haiku written by Glenn Kantor. It was very good (it was a regular feature for a while, reading Haiku’s from listeners.)
I emailed Glenn about it, and we had a nice exchange.
Talented man, and his contributions to the clarinet community are large.

Wow!
I live on Long Island and met Glenn when I played bass clarinet in the Sound Symphony. Glenn told me about this Bulletin Board and I've been looking at it ever since. He was always very supportive of me and we corresponded directly on and off over the years. In addition to his moderating of the Bulletin Board I always appreciated his contributions as being reasoned and knowledgeable.
In November I participated in a performance of Still's "Afro American Symphony" with him.
I will miss Glenn and his wisdom.

I was just thinking of him yesterday as I played my Vandoren A2 crystal mpc. I am so very sad and terribly shocked to read this. I loved his messages on this board, his constant kindness, and his vast knowledge of Buffet clarinets and so much else.
I truly feel a loss and send my quiet thoughts to his family.

He was very encouraging when I decided to take up bass clarinet and gave me some useful advice. I knew that when I saw his initials on a post it was worth reading. We'll all miss his contributions here. So sorry to hear this.
