I was looking at this again tonight. Does anyone know who the manufacturer is of the spike he's using? He describes it in some detail at about 7'35", and says it's a Japanese maker, but doesn't say whom.

Probably a MITSUKE, from Osaka, Japan. They're made in brass, carbon fiber, and brass/titanium versions.
