 Serious Alto clarinet players

I have a question for the professionals that play alto ,Has there ever been a time you played with a neckstrap versus a floor peg and did you notice a difference in embouchure control? I have a good tone on alto but always struggle(squeeks) above high c being consistent playing up to high G above and I think its because of the neckstrap.I took my thumbrest off and installed an Etude with the strap hung from second strap position(upper). If I choke the strap up all the way and push the alto out a bit there's more pressure and stability for playing high notes but is uncomfortable for long periods unless I drop down to lower notes .I'm wondering if I should scrounge up a peg holder and peg somewhere and have it silver brazed onto my bell. There's and old video of me playing the Cantina song from Star Wars on youtube and a recent one playing Alto Clarinet Tango take a look give me your opinion.I play a Boosey &Hawkes 1-10 alto

I didn't even know the alto clarinet could b played professionally. A male clarinet professor told me there's just not enough literature for it. I know there are professional bands and wind ensembles, but isn't the alto clarinet more of a band instrument? Is it used at all in the symphony orchestra? I've never seen it there online.

You don't necessarily have to depend on already written literature to play "professionally" (or at all).

There is a guy named Joel in LA Winds. He's a pro. I was a "hot" alto player in grad school clarinet choir (2003-2004). Ha. I was the only one who could play it. Now I just grabbed a last chair soprano spot with LA Winds. The alto player sits in front of me. He has a beautiful horn and I believe plays with a strap. I will ask him if it's ok to mention him here.

Not a lot but there is some (not in copyright):

Scores 'featuring' the alto clarinet:

And a Google search on imslp "alto clarinet" returns

The Buffet Prestige has a floor peg and that is just great. I HATE NECK STRAPS.

I have played alto in a couple semi-pro wind bands and have done the solos in Dahl's Sinfonietta, which is well written for alto clarinet.

So why do you hate straps and did you notice a change in embouchure control

I listened to the clarinet group @ the URL. I'd never heard bebop, swing and jazz on the lower clarinets. I wonder if those styles can b played on contralto and contrabass too?

My question is do you have to get the collegiate pedagogical tone and then professional clarinet tone quality (that all clarinetists are striving for) and then learn the bebop, swing and jazz clarinet tone quality?

Benny Goodman player classical clarinet b4 getting this tone quality and the 1st chair in a neighboring city could get that tone quality. What r they doing inside their mouth to get this tone quality? Is it the tongue level?

I don't want anything around my neck! The peg is much more freeing!
