Hello!
I'm new to this forum, but primarily active on saxontheweb.com. I am a saxophone player and I have recently started doubling on flute and clarinet. I am looking for a good mouthpiece that could help with attaining a warm, rich, "woody" sound. I'm interested in a Vandoren model, but there are so many options! Any recommendations?
Thanks!
Nick

More open classical Vandorens that work well to achieve a warm sound would be the Vandoren B40 lyre, Vandoren BD5 and Vandoren M30D. More closed models would be the M13 lyre and M15. The BD5 and B40 lyre is what I’m seeing most clarinetists use nowadays in my local area and in orchestras that I follow through social media.
Don’t be afraid to look beyond Vandoren though!

As a sax player and doubling on the flute, go with a more open mouthpiece. Look at the Vandoren website and find that really open mouthpiece that interests you. The BD5 is open, but others are even more open. Sax mouthpieces aren't too resistant so you might feel too restricted with the Vandoen M13.

Almost everyone in my conservatory has a Vandoren B40 for classical or chamber music.
