I recently purchased 3 clarinets at an antique show. Two are metal, probably silver plated, the third is wooden.
The first metal one is a Belmar, serial number AE914. I have polished it and replaced some of the pads. It is in very good condition and now plays o.k.
The second metal one is engraved "The Regent", Ohio Band Instrument Co., serial number 71367. This is similar to #1 in that I have removed the tarnish and replaced worn, leaking pads. This is in very good condition and plays o.k.
The wooden clarinet is stamped "Romain Braude" Czecho-Slovakia, but has no serial number. The lowest tenon where the bell attaches has a minor shear in the wood that does not seem to affect structure nor sound. The instrument is in excellent condition otherwise and plays well.
Any information regarding these instruments would be most appreciated.

The only one I can comment on is the Ohio Band Regent. Ohio Band was the parent company of King Musical Instruments. "Belmar" could it be "Selmer"? I have no knowledge of Belmar.

I'd be really surprised if the metal clarinets were silver plated. I have one that is stamped USQMC it was an army musicians horn before plastic forever banished the metal clarinet from outside, and therefore widespread, use.

It is very unlikely that they are silver plated. The Regent was certainly a student grade horn. Nickel plating is much more likely.
