I have been admonished by the moderators regarding my too-personal posts...so I'll leave this short and sweet...play for the feel, learn the scales, the theory and such, get a good horn and the means for what works for you...and play whatever you love con passionato...you don't need me to tell you this...but sometimes I have to remind myself that's what made me a good player and gave me what I got in life. I didn't practice 8 hours a day, have great chops, but I had the passion...and it took me a long way.
It looks like I'm getting back in the clarinet world. Tomorrow I'm checking out a Noblet bass for a community band in San Luis Obispo California USA. I bought a vintage Selmer bass mpc "A" model. I don't know anything about it, but the cat who sold it here on the classified board is a clarinet doc student from North Texas State, so I assume he knows something. Why he's selling this I don't know, but I took a $207.90 chance...I've had C-stars, played a Pomerico 3-in Rome on my 33 back in '05...so let's see how this works. Hopefully this school Noblet is playable.
I'm almost 59 and looking forward to playing again. I have a rehabbed Buffet S1 that may get a call as well.
If anyone knows anything about this model A selmer mpc I'd like to know.
Best wishes to all...hope this passes moderator muster.

Barney: I always like your posts and appreciate their "personal" character. Go on expressing yourself freely. It's good for you and for those that read your posts.

People of all ages post on this board, Barney, but a good number of regular posters are, lets say, well seasoned and may consider 59 a "prettyyoungreedguy".
Those ladies and gentlemen are a great resource and I appreciate that they take time to share their experience on this board.

For those who haven't heard, San Luis Obispo is a beautiful place resting on the Pacific ocean coast. It's a hidden gem!
Maybe Eddie Palanker will pop in regard bass clarinets and mouthpieces for this horn. He may have played on that older Selmer.
