Trios for oboe, clarinet and violin or viola?
Author: kdk

Can anyone suggest trios for oboe, clarinet and either violin or viola? We're already rehearsing the Randall Thompson trio.

Thanks,
Karl

Alvin Etler has a piece for oboe, clarinet and viola.
It's still in print as far as I know,

That's one I haven't run into in my own search. Thanks.

What's the title. I'm finding an Etler Suite for flute, clarinet and oboe, but not one for ob, clar and viola. Do you know any more about it?

Sonata is the title. It was published by New Valley Press, Northhampton, Mass. of which there is no trace on the internet.

I just sent an email to the Clarinet Institute and asked. Maybe these good folks have arranged a few pieces. I'll let you know Karl if they respond.

There exists an arrangement of the Bach Three-Part Inventions for two violins and viola. The clarinet can easily transpose the second violin part and the oboe can play the first violin part. You don't have to play all 15 Inventions, but can pick and choose. International Music publishes this.

Hi Karl! If you can transpose or have a C clarinet contact the Clarinet Institute. David is a nice man and has a lot of music and ideas for you.

Thanks. Yes, I have a C clarinet and yes, I can transpose. I'll check in with them.
