The question should be is it polycylindrical or cylindrical. If it were conical, you would have a saxophone.

The Boosey and Hawkes website says this about the bore of the E11:

Whatever his or her level, the musician will appreciate the feel and the acoustic qualities of BUFFET CRAMPON student clarinets. The bore (internal diameter) has been specially designed to increase easy response, flexibility and even performance in all registers.

You might check out their website and send a question to them. Or, look up some more info on Sneezy about the E11. It's a popular topic. I buy them for students all the time because they're an inexpensive way to get into a Buffet clarinet if their teachers are wanting them to move up into the R-13 later on.

NO ---- the Buffet E-11 does _NOT_ have a poly-cyllindrical bore. However, it does offer some features which, IMO, are nice. Undercut tone holes (featured in professional clarinets), adjustable thumbrest w/a _convenient_ HOOK for a neckstrap & the Keywork that Buffet owners all seem to love!

[ It's a good question, though. I had the same question some time back & called Buffet to verifiy. ]

Yes, they're very nice instruments and they hold their resale value quite well--unless you pay retail for them.
