Well, Y'all can stand back in AWE! It's here and it is AWESOME. My Conn/Malerne (reconditioned by Dave Spiegelthal) arrived yesterday and it exceeds all my expectations. I've run out of adjectives. Funny thing--Mark can possibly give me the reason--In the lower register the vibrations make my hearing aides vibrate so it feels like I've got a bug in my ear. Have to play with them out.
But again PLEASE. Good place, good price for a one-piece case? The one with it is not worthy of the instrument. Where to get one? Sent several emails to music companies, no response.

Bob,
I have purchased several cases and a really nice Alto Clarinet from LaVar Wherry at Taylor music in South Dakota. He has some excellent buys. You can email him at lavar3@home.com or call the music store at 800 843-1938.
Glad to hear about your good experience with the Bass. I am preparing to send one to Dave myself.
Best Wishes,
Jack

No idea, Bob! Perhaps if you talk to the place where they adjust the things they can tell you why.

Thanks Jack. I have passed this on to Mark Theil on the Bass Clarinet page as he is also looking for a case--- BUT a Tenor case. Oh, BTW Taylor Music < taylormusic.com > has changed their site. It comes up as USA Band or some such, but it's the same folks. I will get ahold of them.

Try International Music Suppliers. I was just looking at new cases last night, and there are SEVERAL different bass clarinet cases ranging from 100.00 to 400.00 in the woodwind section of their catalog. You'll need Adobe Acrobat to read the catalog, but they have a lot of great accessories.

I was looking up the prices of bass clarinet cases a couple days ago. The repair tech (who is the only one I trust) said he could get me one for about $150 or so.
Or, if the outside of your case is in decent condition like mine, you could just reupholster the inside. All of the plastic that was supposed to hold my bass in was broken, so I took off the fabric and replaced it with stryrofoam.
So far (three days it's holding up really nice. The coolest part is the case is now lined in leopard material.
