Mark: -a very interesting video. There has been mention of it on this board before: by yours truly! Tony Pay, I seem to recall, was unhappy with the sound quality, but I found nothing wrong with anything about this video. I would very much like him to to do a Weber's clarinet and/or a Brahms.

Very interesting presentation. I didn't realize that there was a Rovner ligature, or a copy, back in Mozarts time though. :-) Yea, I know.

Well I must say that Rovner sighting didn't occur to me.
If you want to be a purest about sound, you might want to throw a string ligature on there. Maybe Tony can work on that for the future Brahms recording.

In the video: when his modern clarinet is whisked out of sight it always tricks me, for a moment, into thinking the horn is falling over on to the floor.

In the same series, I also recommend "Haydn's Oboes": very informative and also very, very funny.

I enjoyed the presentation for sure but I was making "fun" of the "Rovner" ligature not criticizing it. If one actually wanted to present this as in Mozart's time he would have needed to use a hand made mouthpiece of it's time, probably made of wood, and of course hand made reeds from whatever cane they used in those days. With that said, it was still very interesting.
