So I bought an Eddies Daniels Ligature awhile back on eBay.
I presumed it was for a B flat Clarinet
Ive gotten around to using it recently.
It sounds pretty good, though it seems bulker than my other Rovner Ligatures.
To that end I opened it up and measured the length of it compared to a Rovner Dark Ligature for a B flat Clarinet.
The Eddie Daniels Ligature is slightly longer
My question is this Eddie Daniels Ligature possible for a Sax, or Bass Clarinet?
it didn't come in a Box.
On the inside it say 1R- ED11 Is the "1R" a designation for a B flat Clarinet?
So were Eddie Daniels Ligatures ever made for Saxs or Bass Clarinet?
If so how can I tell the difference between one of those and a B Flat ligature?

Eddie Daniels ligatures were made for clarinets ans saxophones but they did go through several generational changes from their first appearance in the 1980's. The 1R is the standard marking for clarinet and the ED designates Eddie Daniels model.
The first generation model (1980's?) of the Rovner Eddie Daniels ligature (original model #1R-ED) had 2 fixed metal plates which contacted the reed.
The ligature also had 8 soft rubber "ribs" (4 on each side) on the inside of the ligature, which made contact with the mouthpiece (similar to a Gigliotti ligature). Later, the design was slightly changed, and the 8 "ribs" were made of hard plastic, instead of the soft rubber like the original ligature. This, I thought was a bad decision (including some reps from Rovner who agreed) as the ligature then tended to slip.
The next generation(s) of the Eddie Daniels ligatures (ED I, ED II) had a different metal plate system which allowed for different configurations of contact with the reed.
IMO, the very first generation Eddie Daniels ligature was far better than any of the subsequent or current versions with the different plate positions. It used the principals of both the inverted Bonade ligatue and Gigliotti ligature with Rovner materials.
The saxophone Eddie Daniels ligatures (at least the ones I have) are marked 2M - ED (or similar) as they fit my metal tenor sax mouthpieces.
My alto sax Eddie Daniels ligature will fit my clarinet mouthpiece, but I've never used it for that purpose.

Wouldn't it be longer than other Rovners because it needs more of the "band" portion of the ligature to wrap around both the mouthpiece and the metal plate that touches the reed?
