 Thumb tube removal

I am having a problem removing a threaded thumb tube from a Buffet R13 clarinet. I have an old thumb tube removal tool which I have tried to use, but the thumb tube is being rather stubborn. Are there any "tricks" to help ease the removal of the thumb tube? Thanks for any help you can provide.
