After a decade or more, my first post.

Thanks to all the contributors to this forum. I’ve been reading here for a long time and everything I would have asked has been answered, sometimes repeatedly and from various perspectives. It has been a tremendous help since my return to playing in 2003 after a 30 year semi-retirement. I’m a senior citizen recreational player currently in four all very different community bands, playing clarinet, alto sax, and tenor sax.

Now my question. All of the bands play a lot outdoors and I don’t want to use my very nice, fully restored LeBlanc LL. And my backup horns are not helpful. I’ve read some very positive things about Ridenour clarinets and on eBay recently came across a closeout on the Ridenour Accelerando. There wasn’t much information except that the model was PVC plastic, discontinued and they had 14 of them. I made an offer and bought one. After a few adjustments by a local tech and a get-acquainted period I am happy to say that horn plays very nicely. The tone is slightly brighter than my LeBlanc which is just fine outdoors.

I’ve read a lot about Ridenour clarinets, but never heard of the accelerando and was wondering if anyone knows anything about its marketing history.

Thanks again.
