Well worth seeking out is a fantastic video of clarinetist Skeets Herfurt perfectly duplicating steel guitarist Alvino Rey’s lines in St. Louis blues.

Skeets Herfurt had an illustrious career in the big band era, and even did a small stint on the Lawrence Welk Show in the early 1980s. He was often the featured alto sax soloist.
