I am now the proud owner of a Bass Clarinet, a Conn/Malerne reconditioned by Dave Spiegelthal. Dave said the case was a cripple and a new one is in order. He mentioned the DEG (One piece) for about 90-99 bucks depending on where bought and the Pro-Tech which runs about $130+. A "web search" did not show me any other sources (short of a leather one for about 400+). Ok, who has an extra good one they want to get rid of, or who knows where to get a good one other than the two mentioned, or which of those two should I get?. That ought to keep the thread moving for a day or two. Thanks,

Bob, I suspect this whole thread is a sham, and instead is merely an excuse for you to brag about your new "grandchild". C'mon . . . get to the point. How's it play?

Hey guys, take pity. I haven't gotten it yet. It's due here Thursday. I'm crossing my legs and holding my breath, but if Dave says it is AWESOME, I believe it.

If you really want some advice on a case go for the pro-tech. I own one of their saxophone cases and clarinet cases. Thoses things look great and are protective as anytything. My tenor sax fell off the top of the band lockers at my school. The case was still like brand new and the instrument didn't get harmed one bit. I feel pro-tech cases are one of the few real values of this time as they are so much better than cases in their price range and cases costing two, three, four times as much.
Congrats. on your new bass.
