I'm one of those who at least "feel" a difference in ligatures and believe that the resultant "feel" can/does make a difference in how you sound. I think it is also possible that the ligature itself can make a difference but this is hard to verify objectively.
I have been making ligatures similar to this concept from electrical hookup wire (insulated copper core), but they are not adjustable so the "fit" is critical. However, I like the resulting feel/sound better than any other ligature I've played. In particular, I like the two horizontal band design (e.g., Vandoren M|O) better than most of the "Bonade-style" ligatures. Consequently, I would love to try these but I'm not sure I would go for it at this price-point.
