Since the reed and the mouthpiece are a 'marriage', the facing and slope need to work together, I believe the best way to fix a mouthpiece/reed puzzle is to select the best reed - best long lasting and responsive cane, most consistent cut - and find a mouthpiece that works best with the reed.
When you consistently find 8 good reeds out of 10 in a box, you will always be a happy clarinet player.
