AW Reeds is an interesting company. They were formed in 2000 by founders Martin Spangenberg, Hermann Uhl, and Alexander Willscher. Their "finished" reeds for Boehm clarinet are pretty good, and they make innovative mouthpieces for both German system and French Boehm clarinets. I believe Wenzel Fuchs used to (and maybe still does?) play on one. Their French Boehm models seem to be made of a composite material rather than acrylic or standard rubber. (The surface is dull rather than reflective.) They come in an "improved air flow" model that looks like a "duckbill" mouthpiece with a narrowed beak, and a traditional model with the usual beak. Very few American players seem to be familiar with the AW mouthpieces. I believe Weiner's in New York is the only American retail source for them. I only discovered them after Sabine Meyer student Shelly Ezra kindly told me she used them.
I like the traditional AW F105T mouthpiece model. It plays very easily with a nice balance of vibrancy and darkness and is not reed fussy or too resistant-- a much better match for French Boehms than Kuckmeier and other Austrian and German made mouthpieces I have tried.
