Does anyone know what the excerpts are yet? I have some friends on other instruments who have heard back, but I haven't yet. If anyone can help I would be really thankful,
Lisa

yeah I got mine. Beethoven 4 - adagio, Neilson Flute Concerto - 1st mvt, umm Sibelius 1 - 3rd mvt, and Stravinsky Firebird Ballet Suite - Prelude and Dance of the Firebird - Variations.
For Eb clarinet, Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique - Witches Sabbath, Ravel Piano Concerto mvt 3.
For Bass clarinet, Gershwin An American in Paris, and Richard Strauss Don Quixote.
I almost died when i saw some of them..particularly the stravinsky..lol.

I've been to camp three times and I'm about to head off on the Europe tour with AYO. I am very scared about playing with all those great players, and then in Europe with Ashkenazy. I'm mainly doing the bass stuff but I also get to do 2nd in the Tchaik. Piano conc. No.1 and Beethoven No.1.
Camp is great fun, two weeks of music music music. The tutors are really cool (I think your teacher is doing it this year Nick!) and the repertoire is fantastic. Last year I got to play Fountains of Rome, Miraculous Mandarin, Lutoslawski Concerto for Orch, Mladi in a sextet and Brahms trio. So I guess you can say there is no end to the amount of opportunities you get. Living in is also a bit of a different expierence for camps in this country! (I can also clear up the fact that Canberra isn't a hole, and that there is a night life to be had outside of the camp)
The good thing about though is that they are REAL auditions and the results do count, not just what you have done before. I got in one year missed out the next, and then have got in again for the past two years. I know others who have had one year as Principal of the top orchestra then not get into anything the next year.
good luck all with the auditions, we might have to talk about them closer to the time!
Andy
