I have a 5RV Lyre and use V12 3 1/2's. Some days my reeds sound fantastic and others those great reeds sound terrible. It takes me three weeks for me to go through one box of Vandorens and I am constantly playing. I can't play on 4's since I find them too hard. I've tried the M-13, but it just doesn't work for me. I play on an R-13. Do you guys have the same problems with the 5RV Lyre?

My general experiences say present Vandoren's hand finish is worse than they
used to be some 20 years ago. The table are not 'flat' literally. There are some
resurfacers to solve this problem in US.
