Currently playing Bb clarinet at an intermediate level and would like to double on an Alto sax.
Alto preferences:
-Easy to play ergonomically.
-Quality Used is fine.
-Would like a horn that is not going to depreciate significantly, so it doesn't need to be cheap initially, just one that maintains its value.
-Prefer silver finish
Thanks for your response/recommendations,
Mrdi

Hi Mrdi,
I hope that this won't violate ToS, because I'm sort of plugging a business, but I would recommend Wally's Music in Oregon City, Oregon (in the Portland Metro area). Wally's has been in business for more than 70 years and has one of the finest and largest collection of vintage saxophones for sale in the country.
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and has a "no pressure" policy which is refreshing. If you're having trouble deciding and want a bit of time to think about your choices, they'll point out the great local cafés, coffee shops and diners.
The website is www.wallysmusic.com and the telephone number is
(503)656-5323.
Enjoy and good luck!

You can't go wring with Yamaha saxes provided they've been well maintained if buying used.
And don't play sax like it's a clarinet or you'll go horrendously sharp up top.
