 Roached out Ligature
Author: Ben Shaffer

So someone gave me a MP several months back and it wasn't very good, it came with a roached out metal ligature.
Anyhow I put both of them in a drawer and forgot about them.
Today I opened the Drawer looking for something and came across the Roached out ligature.
For fun I took out the ligature and put it on my current MP.
I played it and it sounded great!
So its my current favorite Ligature.
Should you polish up a roached out ligature to conserve it, or just leave it as is?
The Ligature has no markings.
and looks pretty old
Its got two turn screws

Roached out?

Rusted?
Corroded?
Bent?
Twisted?
Or All of the above?

Does it grip the reed poorly?
If it plays well, do you just want to make it pretty?

I'd say corroded or oxidized.
I'm inclined to leave it as it as I like the way it looks
