Jimmy Giuffre's music was so fresh, so inventive and so original. It was "chamber jazz"; clarinet, guitar and double-bass, and it would seem to me it could be played at a "Classical" music concert, by "Classical" musicians. I see many of the scores to it are available. There's a funny story: when told that Giuffre was going to teach clarinet at some summer music camp, Benny Goodman replied: "Yeah?! And who's going to teach the upper register?".
