I have repaired 4 cracked bells, with varied cosmetic results.
You must really prepare the joint well, and use sufficient epoxy (slow set is good) to fill the void.
I put cellophane tape over the seam to keep squeeze out down.
On an old Thibouville, I could hear the difference in long B as the bell was very thin.
The other three I could not detect a difference.
People with better hearing (that would be most folks) may detect this.
To demonstrate the actual contribution of the bell, take it off and play your horn... you may be surprised at the result.

I suppose you could fill such a void with some of the thinner Cyanoacrylate 9super glue derivatives) and fine Grenadilla dust.
To cover such a surface void, you might also try lacquer sticks available from most wood working supplies.
If the crack doesn't go right the way through, it is likely cosmetic rather than audible as flaws go.
When they slap these things together, a stack of bells are selected for best match with the finished sections... why not shop for a replacement bell?

And, speaking of replacement bells---why not try the Deg bell? Made by Accubore of aluminum alloy, your problems will be over forever. It'll never crack, warp or change with the weather. Sounds great and increases projection.
Or, you could purchase a replacement wood bell.
If you're interested in the Deg, send me an email. I have one.

Tracking down joints/parts of any kind is fun. The more you _HUNT_ the better you get at it. If its a one-time shot, you can fix/mend or buy new. New is very expensive & getting a pro to fix a cracked bell is terribly expensive. bells can't be pinned & they aren't flush-banded.
Best,

"very expensive"??? You've been ripped off. It is not a big job to do much what has been described above.

Sorry, Gordon ... _TYPO_.
I meant to say IN-expensive, as no pinning or banding is possible. Thanks for correct me.
