 How Recharge Boveda Humidity Pack
Author: BGBG

Have a Boveda 84% humidity pack that I forgot about and it is hardened and dried out. Anybody know if I can recharge or re-hydrate it by soaking it in distilled water, which I am trying to do today.

Edit: have read to put in tupperware container with a bowl of water but since rock hard like a bag of pebbles I thought to just soak it in water. Just now immersed it. Am using 2 others but this one had been forgotten and now hardened up. Would like to rejuvenate it.

Either way it should probably work. I am not sure if soaking it might cause the paper packaging to break down quicker. In either case, just give it some time.

I use tupperware. Small open container inside a bigger sealed one. Wet paper towels and a little extra water in the bigger one. Takes about a week to 10 days then good as new. Have not tried soaking. I don't think I would.

That’s a lot of work to keep using a disposable humidifier. They are cheap enough, just sold in 3 packs.

One of mine sprung a leak and the paper was destroyed, so I would NOT recommend soaking it.

Got afraid of the paper breaking so I just took pack out of the water and filled a smaller container with the water and put it inside the larger container, opened and the bag outside the water-filled container. That way it can absorb water but not soak. No rush...I have two others that have not gone dry. Thanks for the info. I can certainly afford Boveda packs but nevertheless do not wish to ruin or waste them.

Waste not want not. The tupperware sits ready on an upper shelf in my studio. Bathroom with water is just down the hall. Whole process involves about 60 seconds of "work" total. Probably less than reordering.
