I'm seeking info on a Evette clarinet I purchased at a garage sale. The model # is 90232.
It is in great condition. If anyone knows any info. Please contact me

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't that the serial number? Mine is D12XXX, I bought it new in 1969. The D indicates the Evette model (at least at that time and in this case an Evette Master).
You can't convince me that these weren't great horns. I did try to capture the majic and bought an Evette Schaeffer a little older than my old Evette a few years ago and it didn't compare.... just individual differences I expect.
Just get a good mouthpiece and if it sounds nice, you have a winner!

These wooden Evettes can be a mixed bag.
I have had two that were really stuffy (part of the design) but played well with small bore mouthpieces and hard reeds.
I have owned one which I should never have sold, it was a gem.
None of them were particularly pretty.
The ones stamped "Master Model" have more cachet, but have the same mixed history... some very good, few are great, some are pretty awful.
Your serial number as listed doesn't return data from the Buffet site, there should be a letter in front of the numbers.
Don't dump big bucks into this, looking for resale... they top out around $225 in perfect condition.
It could be an excellent player after overhaul, but that is a $100 experiment.

Regarding Anji's comment about the serial number missing a letter in front of it: That's not true for some of the Evette & Schaeffer (although I don't know why). I have two E&S clarinets - one is a true intermediate-level clarinet and that has the letter in the serial number, while the second (a E & S Master Model) does NOT contain a letter on either upper or lower joint. I've seen master models with the letter in the serial number (as pointed out by Terry), so that's not the distinction. I haven't had them out side-by-side in ages, so I don't know if there is something on the stamp that would explain the difference in serial number format

In my experience, a wood Evette that has no letter at the start of the serial number was made in West Germany, after they stopped making the DXXXXX instruments.

Thanks for the info. Yes, it was the serial #...pardon my mistake. But there isn't any letter before the numbers.
I only paid a dollar for it...so I guess I did alright!!!!!

Anyone know their worth? I was out a buck for this one. I ordered a mouthpiece and I'm getting it recorked. I think my 10 year old might start out on it. Any suggestions?
