When I was in college I was taking a brass methods classes at the same I was preparing my senior recital. I found that I needed to increase my clarinet practice time to compensate for the strangeness that being a new trumpet player was creating in my embouchure. Later, when I was teaching middle school and elementary school band and playing trumpet almost every day, it was less of an issue.
I think that the particulars of your situation likely have more influence than anything else. If I hadn't been a somewhat accomplished clarinetist before picking up the trumpet it probably would have made both instruments much harder.
I have a very good high school clarinet student who also plays trumpet in his school's jazz band. It doesn't seem to phase him at all. He's been playing both instruments since middle school but had a couple years of clarinet lessons before he picked up the trumpet.
I also find that many people take well to some instruments and not so well to others. A high school friend of mine was a mediocre clarinet players for most of high school, but the summer before our senior year he tried bass clarinet at music camp and suddenly was a rousing success.
