I've had this recording since 1999, but have never been able to track down who recorded it. It has, by far, my favorite clarinet glissando out of any RiB recordings I've heard. I've listened to dozens of recordings but CANNOT track it down. Please...help me....WHO RECORDED THIS??!?

Is it safe to say that's the San Francisco Symphony prior to Carey Bell?

This performance is from a 1997 recording with the New World Symphony on the RCA label. http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/album.jsp?album_id=3940
Jerome Simas is the clarinet soloist and was recorded while he was a fellow at the New World Symphony. In 2012 he was appointed bass clarinetist with the San Francisco Symphony. On the original issue of the above recording entitled "New World Jazz", Simas also performs the Ebony Concerto and Tad Calcara (principal of the Utah Symphony) performs Bernstein's Prelude, Fugue and Riffs.

No, it's clearly the recording that Ted identifies above. It can be found as he describes it on Youtube.

Hi,
Yes, it is me...Jerome (Jerry) Simas playing that many years ago with the New World Symphony when I was a fellow there in the mid-90s. It means a lot to me that you enjoyed my interpretation. It was an exciting project and I'm glad I had the opportunity. The pianist/conductor is Michael Tilson Thomas. Nowadays I'm on the lower end of the clarinet spectrum playing mostly bass clarinet. Take care! Jerry Simas
