Hello guys, what's your opinion on Pl reeds french cut for the clarinet? Are they worth trying or playing.

Good cane and cut but for me just a little on the dull side. I've been liking the
Aria reeds from Brad Behn.
Brad Behn is also working with Leuthner on a new clarinet reed (a little different from Behn's present Aria design) that should be very much worth trying.

I'd describe the tendency as fuzzy rather than dull, but there are good ones that aren't that way. They seem a little more sensitive to changes in the weather, too. But they're certainly worth trying. I always have at least a couple in my A reed case, and some days they're the best sounding ones there. You probably want to break them in slowly.

I played them for about a year before I switched to Brad Behn's Aria reeds a year ago. They were very nice reeds. Strength was similar to Vandoren V21's. They played very nicely, with a full sweet sound. Their consistency was very good. I used to generally get 8 good reeds per box.

Tried some earlier this year from Clark Fobes, they were just okay. I agree with seabreeze's description of them being a little on the dull side. Nothing amazing that would justify (for me) the extra effort and expense of having them shipped up to Canada.

I tried them only once but have to say I didn't like them. They behaved like too old Vandoren reeds already after the first week of playing them... but of course it surely depends on your mouthpiece, embouchure and your playing habits whether you like them or not...

I love them, for me they're great reeds. I play 4s or 4.5s on a Krass V1 mouthpiece and love the clear, full tone they produce. They are a tad brighter than the Vandoren V12 5s that I otherwise play on the same mouthpiece. We're all different - I personally can't conceive how anybody would find them dull or fuzzy, but obviously some people do, fair enough. (For me the Behn Aria reeds are really dull sounding.) And their consistency is very good, too, plenty of good reeds in the box.

Leuthner reeds are great on my Behn Vintage II mouthpiece.
The many differences above on this posting are due to the different mouthpieces and other factors, not to the reed itself. There is a great mouthpiece for every reed and visa-versa.
My long held belief is to find a great reed source first that has good long lasting cane and very consistent cut, then find a mouthpiece that works with them. Notice Doug Leach's comment, "get 8 good reeds per box". That is good consistency.

Reeds do really play different for different people and on different mouthpieces! In some ways the performance of reeds is just incommensurable for this reason, and non-clarinetists must think we are all daft reading our conflicting experiences and opinions. When I heard Vintschevski's experience that the Behn Arias are "dull sounding" I was really thrown off because some people find them a little too vibrant. For me the Arias may be the most vibrant and least dull of all reeds I've tried. But I don't doubt for a moment that Vintschevski is truly reporting his experience with them. With reeds, I suppose, there is nothing for us to do other than celebrate our differences and go on with our business. To argue or dispute about reeds would be senseless and futile.

I have had pretty good luck with them. I have used both the French cut and even the Vienna cut which are like the old Vandoren Blackmaster style.
My mouthpieces are:
Playnick Solist M
Leitner & Krause B2
I use them on Leitner & Krause V420 instruments.
They are very consistent and seem to not be as particular to weather changes and humidity.
