I've got several different Rovner Ligatures, which sound pretty good.
I've heard about the Marc Jean Ligatures
Would the marc Jean ligature be a big step up?

It would depend on what you are looking for. They are nicely made and designed. You would have to play them to see if they fit your tastes.
