Hullo, it's my first time posting on this board, but it seems like quite a nice community going on here. Kudos to Mr. Charette for a great site.
Anyways, on to my question. Whenever I play a low register C or E on my horn I get this airy sound along with the note, it's really noticeable, and I was wondering if there anything I might be able to do to fix it. It only really happens with those two notes, or atleast that's when I notice it. I'm planning on taking my horn in for it's annual bore-oiling, cleaning, etc. but I was wondering if anyone might have any suggestions before I do.
Ciao,
Jason

Have the technitian check to make sure your keys are "venting" enough. They may need to be widened or compressed towards the tone hole. I had a problem with that with my C#/G# key and had a tech take care of it. Also, make sure your pads are replaced. Other than that, I can't think of anything else I could do. Anyone else?

Check the pads and make sure they aren't torn and sagging or clinging to the ports. I recently had one this on my own horn and it wasn't noticable till I got to looking harder in better light. The outer skin on my G# key (throat) had torn a bit and gave me fits all during rehearsal.
