I recently got a Boosey and Hawkes 1-10 plastic clarinet with the serial number of 209,411. Am I correct in saying it was made in 1979 or 1980? I'm just trying to find out the year of manufacture. I'm currently getting some pads replaced. Not sure yet how it will turn out but I've read some nice reviews of the 1-10.
I'm not sure how many years the 1-10 was made. Mine does have the metal bell ring. I think some don't. Thanks!

209411 is from 1962 - most B&H serial number lists found online are way out by a wide margin, so don't believe them.
It's the same instrument as the B&H Regent and Besson "35" which is plastic body with nickel plated keys - the metal bell ring was fitted to some Bessons. They were made until around 1984, then replaced with the Schreiber plastic clarinets in the form of the B&H Regent II which became the Buffet B12 which is now the Prodige.

Chris P, thank you so much for the information you provided. It is nice to know the history of the model and what eventually became of it. My year of manufacture is definitely older than I thought. I now know 1984 was the end of the model but I wonder when the 1-10 came into being. I had certainly heard of the B&H Regent but had not previously heard of the Besson 35. I had associated Besson with good quality brass instruments. Thank again, Chris P.

They were also stencilled as the Rudall Carte Graduate which usually had a matt finish to the plastic and different socket rings.
