It looks like Walter Seyfarth is going to retire soon and they are looking for a new E-flat player. It will be interesting to know who will win the audition.

And by extension also looking for a new member for their traveling woodwind quintet of which Seyfarth is a member. He is a phenomenal player indeed!

I saw the quintet last season on their tour. It was enjoyable but not quite all I had hoped/expected. It will be interesting to hear what someone new will bring to the clarinet chair.

Nellsonic, in what way did it not live up to your expectations? I’ve only heard them on YouTube and the most I can say is, they play everything correctly
was it individual playing or ensemble playing you had a problem with? I’m very curious.

I won't say more because I don't think it would serve any useful purpose except to note that it did not compare favorably with live recordings I had heard from 8-10 years ago. I've also been lucky enough to see the Berlin Phil on tour with Simon Rattle in the last couple years and that DID very much impress me, just as I would have expected it to.
