 Leblanc Infinite 1188 clarinet

I have a chance to pick up the Leblanc Infinite BB Clarinet made in 1993 and only one owner in excellent condition. Is this as good as a Selmer signet soloist or Buffet E12F. I just have not heard from anyone who has played one to see how good it is.

This model was designed by Tom Ridenour. A good one will have a very clear, resonant tone with excellent tuning and should be somewhat better than a Selmer Signet Soloist and at least as good as a typical Buffet E12F. But in clarinets, the general model is often not as important as the particular clarinet. Quality will vary from one Leblanc Infinite to the next just as it does from one Buffet E12F to the next. Try the particular instrument before you buy it, or at least buy it with the option of return if it doesn't suit you.

Wonder how large is the infinite clarinet?

14.61 MM .577" bore, I found this old catalog at the below linkhttp://www.woodwindforum.com/clarinetperfection/galleryclar/Noblet/Ads/NobletAd08.pdf

Actually, the catalog says .575" bore for the Infinite and .577" for the slightly larger bore of the Esprit. I have an Esprit model, and it plays with a little more open sound than the smaller-bored Infinite. The Infinite bore was supposed to be one of the closest approximations to a Buffet R13 in the Leblanc line and to play with very clear, focused sound.

Thank you for the input and the bore correction.

Thank you for digging up this great old catalog. Those small bore wood French VSP clarinets are worth a second look also (as good intermediate clarinets).
