 Selmer Prologue
Author: Phil Smallwood

I am considering purchasing a Selmer
Prologue clarinet. I see that this model was
replaced by the Prologue II in 1997. Does
anyone have any information on the original
Prologue? Also what are the differences
between the Prologue and Prologue II.
Thanks.

Avoid the prologue's optional left hand lever for D#/G#. Its design is very poor indeed and inclined to slip out of location, jamming up the low notes. Also a challenge to do a half-decent fix on this.

I played a Prologue II and thought it had a nice sound. I couldn't comment on the Prologue I. But, I found the Selmer website very helpful. Ed Riley will answer any emails you send to him with questions of this sort. He's very quick to reply and quite knowledgeable about their products. So, click onto the Clarinet Corner and you'll find him (after going to the www.selmer.com website).
