 WoodWind Design bass clarinet stand?

Has anyone tried the WoodWind Design bass clarinet stand? I'd like to know what people think of it.

I'm currently using a K&M. It's very well built and certainly stable, but I'm not completely happy with the design. (The top support has a flat back, so my instrument will roll unless I carefully put it against one side.)

The WoodWind Design is made of carbon fiber. I'm wondering how stable it is, given it's light weight. (The light weight is presumably a selling point, but it's not something I care about.)

thanks

I use a Gord Clements stand, made for bass clarinets or bassoons. None better. Check gordclements.com.

I have one and it’s great. Very sturdy and extremely lightweight. It stays in the bass case and takes very little time to set up. Perfect especially when doubling on clarinet and bass. Highly recommended.

I have one of his first generation ones. My U part does not tilt but it is fine. Been using it about 3 years. My main criterion was light weight so it has been great.

I have some wear on the notched end of one leg where it assembles against a pin to keep it properly oriented. Over time it has been worn to a V shape but it still works.

Often I use it while playing to prop up black music stands that keep sliding down due to the weight of a music folder. Bonus.

Hi,

I have a K&M stand but may get a WoodWind design to use when I go to rehearsals and do a concert. The K&M is pretty heavy and makes a great home stand. But when traveling, by the time I carry the instrument, my folder and junk bag, as well as a folding music stand, I feel like a Sherpa in the Himalayas. adding the K&M pushes me over the top. The light weight of the WW Design stand and the fact that I can keep it in case may make this a winner for me.

Do you recall where you got the Gord Clements stand? I haven't found any reference to it via google. Clement's website (http://gordclements.com) doesn't mention it.

thanks

Thanks to all. Glad to hear that WoodWind design is a reasonable possibility.

Hi,

I made an interesting discovery yesterday about my older K&M bass clarinet stand and my Peak Portable music stand.

The revelation was that there is room in the bag that comes with the music stand for my older K&M stand. One of the main criticisms of the K&M stand in some reviews is that it does not have a carrying case (an important thing for traveling musicians). Granted, you have to carefully position both stands but it is possible to zip the bag up.

I do not know if the new model K&M would fit as easily since it appears to be a little larger. But I am certain that the Peak stand bag would work for the newer K&M by itself.

PS For those that have traveling to do where you must take a stand, the Peak Portable music stand, although the desk is a bit small, works very well.
