I'm thinking of getting 2 Yamaha clarinets (A/Bb)

What are the best places in the South of the UK to go and try them out?

How far south? Ackerman's has shops in Chichester and Hove if you mean this far south.

Check if they have in stock what you're after: http://www.ackermanmusic.co.uk/

Otherwise you're best going to Howarth or Dawkes.

Check out the CSVR series and if you have the cash also look at the SEVR and the new CSVR-ASP, the SEVR's and the CSVR-ASP's have larger bores.

I will give a report soon on the CSVR-ASP's.

Right now I play on the CSVR's and the A clarinet is the best A I've ever played on. Same resistance as a Bb. Free playing and the upper registers of both horns, the Bb and the A clarinets are amazing. However, if you play on a close facing mouthpiece, 1.03 tip or so, just up to a 1.05 or 1.09. The horn just opens up and feels amazing. Email me if you have facing questions. The sound bounces all over any hall. Also you won't have to play very many horns. Just 2 or 3. There's not much difference in them. Bring a tuner and maybe switch barrels around from one case to another if no one is looking.

Just an offer, I will be going to the headquarters and if you have a special music store in the UK I'll pick one out and have it shipped to you. But I need your name and the store's name, all of that to make this work.
