Any suggestions for the metronomic tempo of etude 26?

As fast as your fingers can go ;->

The Hite edition says 108. I haven't played this one yet so I can't offer my opinion (I'm working through the 40 studies first).

Allegro Furioso ain't it? ( ... going from memory of having played it recently)

Some thoughts:

My teacher told me to build speed slowly. Those "arpeggio like" measures command precision. (SO, go real slow so that the fingerings are "known" to you & then practice using "speed-enhancers" like odd-even & even-odd tempos, etc..

Review tonguing carefully, starting with first line. AND, don't cut off that last note of the etude .... plaaaay it!

Best, mw

mw - you say "plaaaay it" you're talking in terms of a full quarter note length, tenuto, broad. Not a fermata, right?

why doesn't somebody post a "book report" on what the Rose 32 Etudes Study Guide has to say about this piece??? that might help many of you contestants. Best, mw

Been out of town for week with no internet access so maybe this question has already been answered. If so, please accept my apologies.

Is the repeat in said etude to be taken or ignored? Thanks.

Brian

Hite also wrotes in his edition's preface. Very many times, Rose 32 are played
too fast compared with the tempo Bonade actually played them.

All repeats everywhere should be taken. Always.
