Are there other webpages like this for other instruments or are we just a very lucky section?

There are other bulletin boards, such as http://www.classicsax.com, but I don't know of a website for sax or flute that is as complete a resource or as central a gathering place.

We have a great tuba BBS site chock full of snobbish, elitist professionals (like me...) who occasionally condescend to share tidbits of information with the lesser peones. Just kidding...It's a great site where anybody can ask any question pertaining to the tuba or music in general. I've just "found" this clarinet site and enjoy it; I'd say the tuba site gets a whole lot more interaction (average replies to questions number in the teens...) and even gets pretty rowdy discussions going at times.
The trick to making these sites work is INTERACTION! Hey, there are no stupid questions. As an educator for over 25 years I've come to the conclusion everybody has questions but many are afraid to ask. No one is going to judge you and if they do, so what? The newest horn player has as much right to ask questions as does the old geezer vet. How do we learn if we don't ask? At least once a week the "Bb vs C" tuba question pops up, along with the shopworn "Which horn is best?" discussion. Those of us who have been around music need to be tolerant and think back to the first days of our horn playing. I remember going from trumpet to tuba to trombone to clarinet to fiddle to banjo to...you get the picture. Is this piece bass or treble clef? How do I hold this darn thing? Oh, boy, I popped a string. How do I change the string? (Try changing a banjo string on stage while performing...)
This is a long-winded way (sorry, the teacher in me...) of saying, let's keep this wonderful site going and don't just read the threads...CONTRIBUTE! Now go practice...

Carl, you said you know of that tuba site and talked all about it but what is the web address; I'm going to be compiling a links page on my band geeks site to various sites and forums for various instruments so that will be helpful, thanks.
And Allen, you said you don't know of a site for sax or flute that is as complete, but what is an address to a flute site? Do you know?

Thanks very much for any input you can give me!

I have not found any active, alive flute forum, but you could try the following;

http://www.jamesgalway.com/

http://www.flutesmith.com/Flute_Forum/flute_forum.htm

''Links" from http://kristin.newdream.net/flute/
