Dear All,
Lost a very dear friend yesterday to cancer and am thinking of offering some music to begin his memorial service.
The opening section of the Copland seems very fitting to me. A couple of questions though. If one were to note the piece in a bulletin what would you say. Mvt 1? Slowly and Expressively? Also where best to conclude, the f# fermata at 115 or the d in 122? Thanks

So sorry for your loss, Brian. I personally prefer ending it on the F#. You can note the piece in a bulletin in many ways, one way being "Aaron Copland's Concerto for Clarinet and String Orchestra (with Harp and Piano), Mvmt. 1: Slowly and Expressively."

is probably how I'd list it for this type of program. My condolences to you on your loss. Music can be such a comfort in times of adversity.

I think you can add an ending gracefully. Meaning to sound like an end. Change the note or add a couple and end it in the key. Maybe D?
Just a thought - The Mozart Concerto 2nd Movement? But the Copland is very wonderful.
