I'm not offering this for sale; I'm asking *how* to offer it, in general (not just on this site) for sale. Hardly played, i just really am not fond enough of the clarinet sound to put time into it (sorry.) I much prefer oboe, and brass. So this has about 20 hours on it and I don't know what the market is for it or whether I should use "the bay" or put it on consignment somewhere etc. Seems like an excellent option for someone who has to play outside. Bought new from Ridenour about a year and a half ago. I have once again dug it out and messed with it, and realized it's doing no one any good sitting in the case.

I quit using "the auction site" because between the auction fee and PayPal fees you're giving up 15% of the sales price. I've had some luck with Reverb but usually just go with my local Craigslist. I've heard of all the scam problems with it but have not had any bad deals yet. Proper vetting of potential buyers is key.

Someplace else you may want to consider advertising is the "For Sale" section of this BB which is located to the right and at the very top in "green".

Although the advertising is indeed "FREE!", my understanding is that the BB management does appreciate a small donation. (For example: $5 or $10)

You should state which model you are selling: Libertas, 576bc, or whatever else. There is a significant difference in the prices sold when new.

I just looked at the bell and it's a 576. At the time I figured that was plenty good enough for the eventual amateur band playing I thought I would do, on 3rd somewhere (I like low parts. Too many years on pro violin and high/exposed is not where I want to be any more.)
Thanks all. I'll give a try to Craigslist. Haven't had much luck with any other musical instrument I've tried to sell there, and if I have to basically give it away, I'll give it to a school rather than take squat for it. I suppose I could contact some local teachers and see if they have a student who might want it. But this is Buffet country and any positive response there is doubtful. You would think that with this incredibly hot and dry climate, that non-wood instruments would be the perfect fit for marching band, but it appears not.

I bought a 576 for $400 on the auction site as my backup horn. I believe the going rate is more like $600 now, since the horn has developed a good reputation. Other than the plating, it's a very good horn.

I recently sold a Lyrique 576 on the for sale section of this site (as described above) for $400 and received an offer just 3 days after posting.
