First off, good luck for auditions when they do come up!
I'm not personally a UBC student, but I'm in the area and know a fair bit about the local schools. I believe Jose Franch-Ballester is going to be continuing as the clarinet professor next fall, so he would be the one to email regarding auditioning on bass or soprano. He's an incredible clarinettist, and a really nice guy too.
Usually people do auditions on soprano clarinet, because majoring on bass clarinet is not usually an aspect of most university programs. (Note that I say usually, there are exceptions. I don't intend to start an argument on the topic, just stating what is common practice.)
Here is Jose's faculty page on UBC, with an email address listed: https://music.ubc.ca/jose-franch-ballester
And here is a blog post by Mike Lowenstern (a top-notch bass clarinettist) on bass clarinet majoring at university: http://www.earspasm.com/omega/bass-clarinet-as-a-college-major/
